The Horsepower Blues band has been wowing audiences around Halifax since 2004. Playing many popular venues such as Bearley's House of Ribs and Blues, Monte's, Seahorse Tavern, as well as the annual Alexander Keith's Natal Day Festival Blues Tent on the waterfront - Horsepower moves their crowd. Many dance and many simply sit and enjoy the concert style performances of the highly accomplished players.

The Band enjoys freelancing with other artists - hosting famous blues players such as Dan Aykroyd, Dutch Mason, Sam Moon, and John Campell John. At their weekly jams one never knows what guest artist may grace their stage and add another layer of incredible Nova Scotia blues playing to the mix. George Antoniak, Tony D, Barry Cooke, Dave Martone, Dave MacIsaac, Roger Howse, Phisch Fancy to name a few!

JP Arsenault JP Arsenault - Guitar
JP is no stranger to the Maritime music scene. As a veteran of the East Coast music scene, JP is highly recognized as a guitarist and a sound technician who will capture you with his passion to play. He has been entertaining audiences as an explosive, powerful blues/rock and slide guitarist with such names as Dutch Mason, Dan Aykroyd, The Oxygen Bros, Sam Moon to name a few. And don't be alarmed when JP performs one of his famous solos atop your table! (don't spill your drink!)
Dave Gallant Dave Gallant - Vocals, Guitar, Flute
Dave has a been a prolific artist his entire career playing with various rock bands and playing and touring with well known acts such as Oakley, Frank MacKay, Sam Moon, Cheryl Lescom and many, many more. His emotionally charged guitar and flute, soulful vocals combined with a real passion for the blues, give Dave the tools to deliver an 'uber' exciting performance whenever he takes the stage.
Mike Jackson Michael Jackson - Hammond Organ
Mike has been playing in bands since high school and then on to the bar circuit in Halifax with various bands including Alias, Track, and Freeze. He got into the blues again in the late 1980's with the Abbey Aucoin Blues Band out of Truro and later joined the Horsepower Blues Band. He's a former board member of the East Coast Blues Society and lifelong Hammond/Leslie lover and collector. Mike is also popular as a freelance musician around Halifax.
Dwight Keeping Dwight Keeping - Bass Guitar
Dwight has enjoyed an early musical career around Halifax before embarking on a several year adventure playing on the Ontario and Quebec rock and roll bar circuit. Back in Nova Scotia, he's played locally with notables such as Sam Moon and Shirley Jackson, as well as being a prolific freelance musician.
Doug MacKay Doug MacKay - Drums
Doug MacKay, (better known as 'Dog') has been laying down various styles in the Canadian and International market for his entire career. He has performed and recorded rock and blues with such greats as Oakley, Horse, Dan Aykroyd, Pinetop Perkins, Tony D, Sam Moon, Joe Murphy and the Water Street Blues Band, and yes, the Prime Minister of the Blues, Dutch Mason, (to name a few). Doug has also toured with various artists throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. A tried and true pro, Doug is one of the best, high caliber drummers known in the industry. We would be hard pressed to find a local blues artist Dog has NOT played with! And Horsepower is honoured to have him as their's!
